It is a member of the Henipavirus family, along with Hendra virus. NiV is found in fruit bats in South and Southeast Asia. It can be transmitted to humans through direct contact with infected fruit bats or their bodily fluids, or through consuming contaminated food or water. 🦠 Symptoms of Nipah virus infection :- The symptoms of Nipah virus infection typically develop 4-14 days after exposure to the virus. The early symptoms are similar to those of other viral infections, such as fever, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. As the disease progresses, the virus can cause neurological symptoms, such as encephalitis (swelling of the brain) and meningitis (swelling of the membranes around the brain and spinal cord).
